This small residential neighborhood in northwest San Antonio gives residents convenient access to major destinations at a price that’s hard to beat. “The neighborhood is very convenient to the Medical Center. A lot of people want to be in that area. It’s also accessible to downtown and shopping centers,” says Jen Romance-Deal, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper who specializes in northern San Antonio. “It’s also an affordable neighborhood, whereas many other neighborhoods have gotten really expensive in the last couple of years.” Offering a short commute for employees of the Medical Center and an easy trip downtown or to local schools, Eckhert Crossing is a community that puts convenience at the forefront.

Established homes in a tree-filled neighborhood
Eckhert Crossing features a mix of ranch-style homes and traditional brick homes. Romance-Deal says plenty of one-story and two-story houses are available throughout the neighborhood. Most homes have spacious two-car garages. Towering trees are scattered throughout the front yards, creating a tall frame for the quiet streets. Homes are built relatively close together, giving the neighborhood a suburban feel, although some homes have sizable yards. Sidewalks offer room for a morning jog or an evening stroll through the community. There are some apartment complexes on the edges of the neighborhood. A three-bedroom home in Eckhert Crossing can cost anywhere from $250,000 to $370,000. Four-bedroom homes typically cost between $315,000 and $340,000.

Residents have several restaurants nearby that offer a wide range of dining options. Crepeccino Café & Creperie is a casual French café offering sweet and savory crepes and cappuccinos. Romance-Deal recommends Luce Ristorante E Enoteca, a highly rated Italian restaurant just 3.5 miles north of the restaurant on Huebner Road. Residents can pick up groceries and other household items at the Walmart on Bandera Road, about 2.5 miles from the neighborhood. There is also an H-E-B on Babcock Road about 1.5 miles north of the neighborhood.

Students might attend Rhodes Elementary School, Rudder Middle School and John Marshall High School. Rhodes earns a C-plus rating from Niche, while Rudder is rated a B-minus. The school is the oldest high school in the Northside Independent School District and serves approximately 2,600 students. Exploring San Antonio parks
Eckhert Crossing residents are close to the Leon Creek Greenway, with the MainLand Trailhead just 2.5 miles from the neighborhood behind the Walmart on Bandera Road. This paved, mixed-use trail meanders for 20 miles throughout the city, offering recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking and roller skating. Residents are also just a 4-mile drive from the popular OP Schnabel Park, a vast green space with hiking and biking trails and several sports facilities. This park has outdoor basketball courts, baseball fields and soccer fields. Residents are also just a short distance from some of the most popular attractions in San Antonio. “You’re not very far from SeaWorld or Six Flags. They’re about 15 minutes away, so the neighborhood is very convenient to those entertainment areas,” says Romance-Deal. SeaWorld is about 9 miles west of the neighborhood, while Six Flags is about 8 miles north, making it convenient for residents to spend a day at either of these amusement parks.
