Colorful Craftsman homes with small sidewalks

Harris offers a range of early and mid-20th century home styles, including many cozy bungalows and Craftsman styles known for their inviting front porches, thick columns and exposed beams. Many of these homes offer small, fenced-in yards, driveways and carports. Lot sizes are typically smaller, around 6,000 to 7,000 square feet, but you’ll still have plenty of room for landscaping or the occasional backyard barbecue. Well-maintained sidewalks, and tall, leafy trees make for a nice walk around the neighborhood. Unrenovated homes that could use some improvements can sell for between $250,000 to $350,000 while newly renovated homes can sell for more than $350,000 to $600,000.

Relax along the San Antonio River

Proximity to neighborhood parks and urban greenways are a perk for Harris residents. About a mile southeast, residents can relax at Confluence Park, a green space that borders the winding San Antonio River. The park is the result one of the country’s most ambitious urban environmental restoration projects — the park pavilion is designed to catch rainwater and channel it to an underground water system that is used to irrigate the park. It’s a great place to enjoy the riverside and offers a place for the community to access hiking and biking trails on the San Antonio River Walk trail and the San Pedro Creek Greenway Trail. The San Antonio River Walk trail will take you north all the way to the city’s downtown.
