Convenience close to the countryside
A mix of rural living and newer suburban developments, Northwood Hills offers a quiet retreat from the city. While it’s part of the fast-growing San Antonio suburbs, it’s also very close to rolling woodlands and nature preserves outside city limits. “The northeastern side is among the fastest growing areas of the city. The school district is highly rated, it’s close to the highway and it’s getting out toward scenic Hill Country,” says Realtor Bill Gardner of Century 21 The Hills Realty, a resident of San Antonio’s northeast with four years of real estate experience.
Homeowners in the Northwood Loop have all the space they need.

Stately homes alongside new subdivision
Near the corner of Bulverde and Evans roads, you’ll find many large estates, including Mediterranean, contemporary and ranch-style houses. These homes come on large lots with plenty of live oaks separating the houses from the road and gated driveways for extra privacy. Other areas of the neighborhood feature more recent subdivisions that have popped up. These communities typically feature brick and vinyl exteriors, with some stone buildings mixed in. You can find large two-story houses with columns on the front porch or more modest one-story dwellings. Nearly every house comes with a built-in garage. Prices are varied due to the wide range of home styles. Smaller 21st century designs can sell for between $350,000 and $450,000, while larger homes with more room to roam can sell for more than $600,000.
Newer developed homes are available on the west end.

Upperclassmen attend nearby Johnson High School, an A-plus-rated school and one of the best in greater San Antonio, according to Niche. The high school was built relatively recently, in 2008, and offers a wide range of athletic programs and extracurriculars for students to participate in.

GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
