Little wonders in Woodlake
With necessities nearby and quick access to surrounding highways, Woodlake lets residents enjoy life away from the city. "It's got everything you need for shopping and restaurants," says Realtor Cesar Amezcua of CA & Company. Amezcua has 12 years of real estate experience and a great deal of familiarity to the San Antonio area. Although this suburb may seem uneventful upon first glance, a closer look reveals just how many ways Woodlake is full of thoughtful surprises.
Enjoy some of the best tacos in the neighborhood at Gordo's Mini Tacos.
Tacos and treats
What's a San Antonio neighborhood without some Tex Mex food? Gordo’s Mini Tacos delights patrons with their bite-sized tacos in an array of flavors, including shrimp and birria. Health conscious residents can enjoy all the sweet options at the Guilt-Free Bakery. From wedding cakes to pies, cookies and even flower cupcake bouquets, this inclusive bakery boasts diverse options for all types of eaters. The Walmart Supercenter on the southern end of Woodlake is a convenient stop for groceries and household items. The neighborhood also includes an H-E-B supermarket for even more essentials.

Kardon Park
For some outdoor relaxation or exercise, residents can head over to Kardon Park on Gibbs Sprawl Road. The park has several amenities available, including a walking trail lined with outdoor exercise equipment. The little ones will love the thoughtfully-designed and shaded playground, especially on hot days when the sun is beating down. Woodlake homes
Tract homes in different subdivisions make up much of the housing. One-story bungalows and two-story National-style houses are prominent and many of them feature brick or stone exteriors. There are also lots of homes that include built-in garages and large driveways. In the older areas of the neighborhood, it's common to find the ranch design, in spirit with the Southwestern aesthetic. Some ranch homes in Woodlake come with contemporary features while others can be found in more traditional styles. Many of them also date back to the latter half of the 20th century. Prices in this area begin at $200,000 for a single-family home with two bedrooms and two baths. They can go as high as $800,000 for a larger space with five bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Homes in Woodlake tend to sell after 72 days, exceeding the national average of 42 days.
Students are given many opportunities to excel at Judson High School.
Designing video games for school credit
Students in the Woodlake area can attend Woodlake Elementary School, which received a C-grade from Niche, and Woodlake Hills Middle School, which earned a C-plus grade. Older students may attend Roosevelt High School, which has a B-grade and is also host to the Design and Technology Academy (DATA). This program promotes career and professional readiness across several artistic fields, including animation, video game design and audio/ video production.
Woodlakes proximity to 410 and I-10 makes it a quick trip to anywhere in the city.
I-10
Woodlake is located 10 miles from downtown San Antonio. The neighborhood is also situated along the Interstate-10 corridor, allowing travelers and commuters to a major freeway. "That's a really significant road," Amezcua says. "Eastbound, I-10 gets you to Houston pretty quickly. It also goes towards Randolph Air Force Base and even to a point, Fort Sam Houston." I-10 also extends west toward El Paso and east toward the Louisiana border. Several bus lines also run through the community and when residents are flying out of the area, San Antonio International Airport is less than fifteen miles away.
Crime in Woodlake
The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) serves the area, covering 504 square miles and serves over 1.4 million residents. It offers several community programs including Citizen on Patrol (COP) and Citizen Police Academy, which both prepare residents to be the "eyes and ears" and stay informed and vigilant in the community.
