Woods of Deerfield
Classic homes near modern amenities
"Deerfield’s in a unique location. It’s not far from Fiesta Texas Six Flags, and it’s very close to the 1604. The ease and convenience of getting to work is a big draw for the neighborhood, and it has some of the best restaurants in the city,” says Gasper Sifuentes, a Realtor with San Antonio’s Finest Realty. “That entire area is slightly older and has an upscale feel. You have some very nice Craftsman houses and contemporary styles in other pockets. It also has great amenities like a playground and clubhouse. It’s just a really nice area.” Mature oak trees line the roads and shade the homes and children playing outside. Some of the neighborhood’s most popular designs include ranch-style residences, colonials and mid-century-inspired modern homes. Prices range from $325,000 for a three-bedroom condo to $850,000 for a four-bedroom French provincial.Surf and turf dinner options fill the area
Several major roadways with various shopping centers surround the community. The Village at Blanco open-air mall contains a Texas favorite, an H-E-B plus!. The full-service grocery store contains a pharmacy, bakery, florist and South Flo Pizza, a New York-style pizzeria with take-and-bake options. There are plenty of dining opportunities in the Deerfield area, too. Galpao Gaucho opened in 2013 and serves more than 17 cuts of meat alongside various side dishes and salads. The authentic Brazilian steakhouse also features a gourmet salad bar with more than 40 items and homemade desserts. Eddie V’s Prime Seafood welcomes guests every day of the week with a daily happy hour, hand-cut steaks and seasonal seafood. Established in 2001, the luxury dining restaurant has more than 300 wines to select from, as well as fresh oysters and a shellfish tower.Stepping back into the 1800s at Bradley Middle
Students in the neighborhood are part of the North East Independent School District, the seventh-best district in the San Antonio area. Three schools children might attend are Hidden Forest Elementary, Bradley Middle and Clark High, all of which have an A-minus or higher from Niche. Hidden Forest Elementary operates a gifted and talented program and is part of the Kids’ Involvement Network, an after-school program where children can learn and play in a supportive environment. Bradley Middle houses the Mill Springs Cabin, a home built in 1820 in Kentucky and transported to Texas in 1998. It’s been part of the middle school’s campus for 25 years and has been seen by thousands of visitors. It educates students on life in the 1800s with almost a dozen exhibits. Clark High opened in 1978 and provides buses to transport students each day. It’s known for its extracurriculars, like yoga club, Spanish club and robotics team.Learning and enjoying nature at Hardberger Park
Nearby, Hardberger Park is one of San Antonio’s most expansive green spaces. Designed to occupy the entire family for a day, the park has everything from open spaces to a children’s Nature Play Area where kids receive Grab-N-Go Nature Lessons Kits every second Sunday. A botanical guide helps guests identify the area’s most common wildflowers, and a half-mile land bridge lets animals cross a busy highway without risk of a collision. From Tuesday through Friday each week, visitors can enjoy an hour-and-a-half guided hike through the park, which has eight miles of biking and walking trails.Hop on Loop 1604 to get downtown
Located inside Loop 1604, the neighborhood enjoys easy access to Highway 281 and Interstate 10. Downtown is 15 miles away, and the airport is only an 8-mile drive. Bus stops can be found along Huebner Road, Blanco Road and North Loop 1604 to make commuting or running errands even easier.
