Locally owned and chain options for shopping and dining

If you want to stick to the tried-and-true, there are plenty of fast-food options down on E Highland Avenue, including Del Taco and Starbucks. Nearby to the west, still on E Highland, you’ll find more national favorites as well as a small collection of locally owned joints. Try I Love Chicken & Waffles, which serves up crispy fried chicken, made-to-order waffles and a large selection of favorite Southern sides like hushpuppies and mac and cheese. Two Guys Pizza is a popular neighborhood restaurant dishing out specialty pizza, pasta and other classic Italian-American dishes. Catch a matinee screening at Regency Sterling Theater, showcasing new film releases and seasonal or event screenings.

E Highland is also where you can find other retail, like drug stores, sporting goods shops and a movie theater. There are several Mexican markets close by, like southwest regional chain Cardenas Markets, when you want to find authentic ingredients or grab some homemade Mexican snacks. Rite Aid and 99 Cent Store also offer produce and other foodstuffs to stock your kitchen. For other groceries, there’s a Stater Bros. only a few minutes to the west.
