A quiet neighborhood with stunning views and proximity to San Francisco
San Bruno’s suburban Monte Verde neighborhood sits within the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula, within view of the bay and just a short journey away from the city. "It's a quiet and suburban neighborhood," says Realtor Joe Polyak with RISE Homes, who went to school in San Bruno. "People work in San Francisco and Silicon Valley; there aren't really a lot of jobs in San Bruno proper." Monte Verde derives its name from the Spanish phrase for “green mountain,” referencing its verdant atmosphere and its high elevation. Hillside homes with green front lawns are just around the corner from local schools and shopping, while highways connect Monte Verde to the vibrant atmosphere of the Golden Gate City.
Nestled near the coast, Monte Verde provides charming homes with easy access to local amenities.
Surrounded by scenic hills, Monte Verde combines suburban tranquility with urban convenience.

Hillside homes with green yards line Monte Verde's streets
Like many other Bay Area suburbs, Monte Verde was developed during the mid-20th century; three-quarters of its houses were built from 1950 to 1969. "The appeal is that you have good neighbors; blue-collar, hard-working families," says Realtor Lee Ginsburg with INTERO Real Estate Services. This neighborhood has grown in tandem with the local science and technology industries. "It’s also just about 10 minutes away from YouTube headquarters, and, as YouTube expands, we see more and more people come into the area," Ginsburg says. "We also have a lot of biotech in South San Francisco, and that’s also just 10 minutes away." Because of San Bruno’s elevation, several streets sit along steep hillsides, and many ranch-style homes are raised above their garages. Monte Verde’s streetscapes are grid-patterned and tend to feature small front lawns bordering sidewalks and one- to two-car driveways. Though list prices range from $1.3 million to $1.9 million, Monte Verde residents remain in the neighborhood an average of five years longer than in other San Bruno communities, limiting Monte Verde’s housing availability.
