The medical neighborhood of San Marcos
Mockingbird Hills has just as many medical offices as it does apartments. Besides having multiple living options alongside local schools and restaurants, Mockingbird Hills also has the benefit of having San Marcos' medical district southwest of the neighborhood. With a 100-bed hospital and many more doctors' offices and medical practices, Mockingbird Hills is what health care looks like in San Marcos. "There's a variety of specialists in med park," says Michelle Comstock, the office manager for Corridor Primary Care Pediatrics. "There's a CPO laboratory, there's a gynecologist – there's medical offices all around us."
Mockingbird Hills has options for families, students, and retirees.

Pizza, burgers and bowling
Most shopping and dining establishments sit on the western end outside of the medical district. Wienerschnitzel delivers fresh hot dogs and sandwiches across the street from Lowe's, while Taquitos La Chula offers authentic birria beef tacos. Rosie's Pizza To Go serves hoagie sandwiches and chicken wings alongside freshly baked pies, and Sunset Bowling has burgers and fries in addition to 24 bowling lanes. "Everything is relatively within walking distance," Comstock says. "It's growing, but we still try to maintain that small-town atmosphere as best as we can."
