San Acacio
Mandatory use of Santa Fe-style architecture
Camino San Acacio is one of the longer roads that cross the neighborhood, with shorter streets branching off to set-back home sites. Many of the roads are dirt or gravel, and property lots may have fencing, walls or tree cover, adding to privacy.San Acacio is part of the Historic Eastside of the city, which has been under a zoning ordinance since 1957, which mandates that Santa Fe-style architecture be used. Included are elements of the Pueblo style, which has exteriors with an adobe look; and the Territorial style, which has smooth stucco, straight lines, columns, pillars and decorative moldings. "Homes have earthy color palettes and may offer courtyards or walled patios," Aragon says. "Built-ins, niches and exposed beams are some of the interior touches." Few homes may be on the market at a time, but over a year, as of April 2025, they typically started in the $600,000s, but most were $1 million to $2.8 million. There's a limited number of condominiums, generally over $1 million.
The CAP Index Crime Score in San Acacio is 1 out of 10; lower when compared to the national average of 4.
Canyon Road's locally owned shops and galleries; events downtown
San Acacio is close to the historic Canyon Road corridor, an area known for locally owned boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. Santa Fe Teahouse & Bistro has more than 100 loose-leaf teas and a menu with a seasonal focus. The teahouse's Après Music Series features live music on Thursday through Saturday afternoons. Geronimo's serves New American cuisine in a 1750s adobe home. Less than 2 miles from the neighborhood is Santa Fe's oldest grocery store, Kaune's Neighborhood Market, offering organic produce, sandwiches and a curated selection of wines. Events held downtown at the Plaza de Santa Fe include the Santa Fe Farmers Market, which operates on Saturdays year-round; Sovereign Santa Fe, a show of contemporary Native American Art in August; and the Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta, which takes place in September.A community park, mountain trails and a botanical garden nearby
To the north, there's Patrick Smith Park, which has a playground, basketball court and a grassy field. To the south, the Atalaya Mountain Trail is a 6-mile out-and-back trail into the Santa Fe National Forest. Southwest of the neighborhood, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden includes piñon-juniper woodlands, an orchard garden and an ethnobotanical garden for plants with traditional and cultural uses.Atalaya Elementary, Milagro Middle and Santa Fe High

Santa Fe and Milagro are among the district's community schools, which promote family engagement and community connections. The district allows transfers via a lottery system. The Mandela International Magnet, for seventh through 12th grades, is a school of choice with an International Baccalaureate curriculum.Santa Fe Trails buses serve the area; state Route 475 is to the north
The neighborhood is car-dependent for outside trips, but it's walkable in terms of quiet streets lacking traffic. State Route 475 may be accessed several miles north of San Acacio, and U.S. Route 285 is available to the west.
