The shopping scenario in Northeast offers a departure from the beachfront souvenir stores and high-end boutiques found elsewhere in the city. Santa Monica High School has a 9 out of 10 rating on GreatSchools, and is known for its nationally respected science and quiz bowl teams. Many younger students in the neighborhood attend Franklin Elementary or Lincoln Middle School, which are both rated 8 out of 10 on GreatSchools.
Recreational opportunities abound in and around the neighborhood. Beyond the beckoning of the nearby beach, residents are just blocks away from the always-popular Douglas Park, where joggers set their morning pace, families congregate for weekend picnics, and children navigate playgrounds with infectious enthusiasm.
