Longwood Run offers preserves and various home styles near retail
Longwood Run is a master-planned community near University Town Center, featuring various homes from the last 40 years in a natural Southwest Florida setting. "Longwood Run is known for its mature trees, preserves and lakes. There's [about] 579 homes in the master planned community with eight smaller neighborhoods that have their own individual character. Each neighborhood has its own set of deed restrictions," says Lynn Brock, the owner and broker of Brock Realty Inc. She is also a Sarasota resident with over 20 years of experience selling in the region. Longwood Run seems like a secluded residential enclave, but locals are close to many Sarasota amenities. "The community is west of Interstate 75 with multiple access roads to a broad spectrum of local destinations such as restaurants, supermarkets, medical [facilities], the airport, and beaches," Brock says.
Housing options range from condos to single-family homes
Longwood Run has several housing options with manicured front lawns, attached garages and private backyard pools. "It has low HOA fees, and there are a variety of housing types. There are garden condos, attached villas and single-family homes. There are maintenance-free homes that are all set in concert with their natural surroundings," Brock says. The HOA handles exterior updates like roof upgrades for maintenance-free residences. Del Sol Village features detached homes with red tile roofs and palm trees on landscaped lawns. Magnolia Place, Tivoli Village and Riviera Club Village include attached homes displaying pastel-colored and neutral-toned exteriors. Callista Village includes maintenance-free units from the early 2000s. Oasis at Longwood Run contains new homes built by D.R. Horton. Houses usually cost between $450,000 and $780,000. Attached homes can range from $250,000 to $500,000.

According to Niche, the school ranks as the tenth-best high school for the arts in Florida. The public school's magnet program supports students interested in dance, film, animation, music, theater and production. Families may also choose the private Foundations Christian Montessori Academy, located next to The Tabernacle Church on Desoto Road.
Residents visit Longwood Park, Nathan Benderson Park and beaches
Longwood Park is a city-operated space with a covered playground protecting visitors from the Florida sun. There are also courts for pickleball and tennis. The Miracle League of Manasota operates the on-site baseball field. According to locals, the sewer pump station on the grounds can occasionally emit an odor. The community is less than 5 miles from Nathan Benderson Park, which includes a 400-acre lake used for rowing competitions, fishing, and kayaking. Residents also visit sandy beachfronts on the barrier islands of Lido Key and Siesta Key, approximately 10 to 15 miles west.
Major shopping spots are along University Parkway
Locals are within 5 miles of shopping plazas along University Parkway. University Town Center is the city's premier entertainment, shopping and dining hub. The space includes over 200 businesses between the indoor Mall at University Town Center and open-air retailers. The Parkway Collections retail complex has Detwiler's Farm Market, banks and chain restaurants. The Fresh Market and more department store options are inside the Market at UTC. The retail corridor includes chain options and local restaurants like Pascone's Ristorante' and Thai Seed.
A conveniently located community with low flood risks
Breeze Transit provides bus routes along Longwood Run Boulevard and Del Sol Boulevard. Heading east on University Parkway leads to Interstate 75, which is within a few miles of most homes. Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, situated across the interstate, is the closest major hospital offering emergency and general care services. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is roughly a 5-mile drive from the neighborhood. Commuters can reach Downtown Sarasota in about 8 miles.
The community faces a low risk of flooding, but Sarasota has experienced flooding events in the past. The city also has a history of severe weather, including tropical storms and hurricanes that resulted in damaging winds.
