Bungalow and ranch-style builds display midcentury charm
Neighborhood homes are typically older and more modest than some nearby areas. "In Edgemere, you're looking at a lot of homes from the late '50s and early '60s," says David D'Arcy, a local Realtor with Seaport Real Estate. "So, there are a lot of three-bedroom, one-bathroom and three-bedroom, two-bathroom ranches." Minimal traditional architecture alongside bungalows and ranch-style houses adds to the neighborhood's suburban appeal. Modest houses and duplexes needing renovations typically range from $185,000 to about $267,000. Larger homes with three or four bedrooms and a fenced yard usually cost between $300,000 and $400,000. "The values are down now, so it could be a good time to buy there; not sure how long they'll stay low," says D'Arcy. A canopy of trees covers the area, with sidewalks lining the streets. While street parking is available, most homes include a driveway or a garage.
