Paradise Park
Suburban Neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia
Chatham County 31406, 31419
Ranch-style homes along the Vernon River
Most of Paradise Park is comprised of ranch-style homes, with a few newer constructed homes scattered throughout. Prices for ranch-style homes can range from $146,000 for a home in need of total renovation and reach up to $396,500 for a home that has been remodeled. Although recent “remodeling has driven up home prices,” Paradise Park’s homes still sit squarely in a “first-time homebuyer’s price range,” Donovan says. Mature trees tower over the streets, providing plenty of shade. Properties often have short, paved driveways occasionally leading to carports or attached single-car garages. The neighborhood has few sidewalks, and street parking is common. Most New Traditional homes will be single story, ranging in price from $325,000 to about $600,000.Lake Mayer Park with an indoor pool and stocked lake
Lake Mayer Park covers 75 acres, including a freshwater lake that the park keeps stocked with fish. The park is also home to athletic courts and a playground, along with an RC Car racing court and roller hockey. For indoor recreation, there is the Chatham County Aquatic Center, with a 50-meter lap pool and a 25-yard recreation pool. River’s End Community boat ramp provides access to the Vernon River as well as some of the other waterways that snake through Savannah. The ramp has been the location for the Annual River Cleanup, where volunteers come out with kayaks to collect trash from the river.Walking to White Bluff Elementary School
Students can begin their education at White Bluff Elementary School, which is graded a C by Niche. The school had its official ribbon cutting in 2021 and sits within the neighborhood itself. Lee Roy Myers Middle School earns a C-minus. Herschel V. Jenkins High School was first built in 1956, with a brand-new building built in 2021. Jenkins High earns a B from Niche and offers students the chance to participate in the Joint Enrollment Program with colleges and universities. The school also has a STEM curriculum.Aquarium on Skidway Island
With 50 lanes, Bowlero Savannah has bowling leagues and family nights. The UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium is on Skidway Island and is home to over 100 different marine animals. A trail almost a mile long follows the coastline, looping around and has access to an observation platform.Commute to downtown on Truman Parkway
Along Abercorn Street, Chatham Area Transit runs a bus route. “It’s super convenient to the Truman Parkway, which takes you all the way downtown without having to go through downtown traffic,” Donovan says. The Truman Parkway also connects to auxiliary Interstate 516, which in turn connects to I-16.A few stores within Paradise Park and nearby Oglethorpe Mall
Within Paradise Park is Picadilly Square, a strip mall with a few local businesses like dental offices. Blessingdales Thrift & Furniture Store is a thrift store with clothing and furniture. Oglethorpe Mall sits to the north of the neighborhood, and has over 100 stores, including anchor store JCPenney. Across from the mall is Chatham Plaza with a Ross Dress for Less and a variety of boutique stores and local restaurants. A Walmart Neighborhood Market is also nearby. Along Abercorn Street is Walmart Supercenter and Aldi. Savannah Mall closed in 2023, with only three stores remaining open: Target, Bass Pro Shops and Dillard’s.
