Sackville offers a Midtown location for a lower price
If you’re looking for a relatively affordable neighborhood with easy access to Midtown Savannah and Harry S. Truman Parkway, Sackville could be a good fit. The small, entirely residential community lies in Savannah's central pocket between East Victory Drive and East DeRenne Avenue. Sidewalks line many roads, with cars parked along the curb and single-family homes set on modest, square lots. Plus, an active neighborhood association supports Sackville and works with the city on improvements, including the addition of a local park in 2019.

What to know about homebuying in Sackville
In Sackville, you’ll mostly find small, single-story homes dating from the 1940s through the ’60s, with limited new construction since 2020. Housing conditions vary, from homes that need to be completely gutted to those that have been recently flipped. Depending on size, age and condition, prices generally fall between the high $100,000s and the high $200,000s, making Sackville significantly more affordable than surrounding Midtown neighborhoods like Ardmore-Gould Estates-Olin Heights and Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent. “If I were an investor, I would definitely buy a house in this area,” says Robert Edwards, owner of Frontline Construction and a lifelong Savannah resident. “Those houses are well-built.”

Larger outdoor areas are a short drive away, including Daffin Park in the Parkside neighborhood, which features the Savannah Bananas’ home ballpark, a public swimming pool, athletic facilities and more. Forsyth Park, the city’s most famous, sits about 4 miles away in Historic Savannah and is known for its mature live oak trees, Parisian-style fountain and Saturday farmers market.
