Murray Hill Middle Heathcote has revival-style homes near shopping and dining

Murray Hill Middle Heathcote, 28 miles from New York City, is a Scarsdale neighborhood known for its historic architecture and highly rated school district. “Murray Hill has the most beautiful property in Scarsdale,” says Yaren Sun, a broker and the owner of Xcel Realty Service LLC. Sun lives in the Murray Hill Middle Heathcote area and has worked in the real estate industry since 2013. Homes in the Murray Hill Middle Heathcote area are in revival styles on large, manicured lots with private tennis courts and in-ground pools. The Scarsdale Middle School is located within the neighborhood and the high school borders the area, making both schools less than a mile from most residents. Near the southern end of Murray Hill, several shopping centers line Wilmot Road.

Newer builds blend with historic homes

Mature maple and oak trees shade the winding residential streets, bordered by manicured lawns and circular driveways. The Village of Scarsdale has design guidelines for new or modified homes to keep housing styles consistent. “There’s lots of new construction that blends into the older construction,” Sun says. Newly built homes often have New Traditional designs that match the historic homes next door, with dormer windows and porticos. These homes range from about $5.5 million to over $7 million. Existing homes usually feature Colonial or Tudor Revival designs and sell for about $1.5 million to nearly $3.5 million. Because the lots are large, many residents have private tennis courts and in-ground pools. The CAP Index Crime Score for area is 1 out of 10. The national average is 4.
