“I’d say it’s a very people-centered community, so events always have a big turnout,” says Eva Sanchez, Broker/ Realtor with @properties Christie's International Real Estate who has served the western Chicago suburbs for 26 years. Schiller Park celebrates holidays throughout the year with activities. Kids hunt for eggs during the community's Easter Eggstravaganza, and the 4th of July Community Pool Party at Anna Montana Water Park offers free hot dogs, live music and free admission to the pool. Schiller Park residents get in the holiday spirit with a tree lighting and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus at Schiller Park Community Center.
Hike or fish at Schiller Woods
The northern portion of Schiller Park bears the tangle of interlocking roadways and on-ramps that guide travelers out of the O’Hare International Airport, but residents still find green space by Interstate 294 and Interstate 90. Dunne Park Recreation Center offers a peaceful reprieve from the traffic, as locals can eat lunch in the gazebo and watch ducks and swans swim around a small pond. Kids splash in the pool and race down waterslides during the summer at Anna Montana Water Park and Memorial Pool and play year-round at Kennedy Park’s athletic fields and playground. Locals can watch deer run through the meadows, go fishing or take a forested hike at Schiller Woods, a nature preserve.

Interdisciplinary studies at East Leyden High
The Schiller Park School District 81 serves children in grades prekindergarten through eighth. Kids begin at John F. Kennedy Elementary, which has a B rating from Niche, and move to B-minus-rated Washington Elementary in fourth grade. Lincoln Middle, which also has a B-minus rating, serves grades 6 through 8. High school students are zoned to A-minus-rated East Leyden High, which is part of the Leyden Community High School District 212. The high school features a program called co.lab, which functions as a “school within a school” and offers interdisciplinary studies, hands-on workshops and student projects.

Major interstates, trains and buses route to Chicago
“A lot of commuters drive since they're right by the major interstates. It only takes 25 minutes, which is faster than the train,” Sanchez says. Public transportation options, like the Metra rail line and the Pace Suburban Bus system, take about an hour to get downtown. The O’Hare International Airport is just over the community's eastern border, so the bus system saves residents from paying airport parking fees. The Canadian Pacific Kansas City operates a rail line and container yard parallel to the Schiller Park Metra line.

Residents experience O’Hare air traffic
Seeing planes fly overhead is a part of life in Schiller Park. "The houses right by the landing path do experience a lot of air traffic, but the airport has a program where it provides soundproofing for windows, doors and roofs to those living right by the airport,” Sanchez says.
Schiller Park is very close to O'hare International airport.
North of Schiller Park, Rosemont's transit hub connects passengers between rail, bus, and plane.
