Simple, semi-rural comfort west of Lafayette

The old-fashioned Cajun lifestyle is alive and well in Scott. Sitting to the left of Lafayette, this suburb proudly bills itself as “the city where the West begins.” While it’s Lafayette Parish’s fourth-largest municipality, Scott sticks close to its roots as a semi-rural hub, bridging the gap between the dense Lafayette area to its east and the countryside near Duson to the west. As the state’s largest producer of Boudin sausage. Scott has stayed true to its identity, but this humble neighborhood still draws in residents searching for wide spaces, a retreat from the bustle of the city or both.

From simple homes to sizeable estates

“The market can vary from the small country cottages, which are the majority of the homes, up to the bigger homes out in the rural country areas,” says Selena Lormand, a Realtor with Keller Williams Acadiana. Lormand has more than 24 years of experience selling homes in the Acadiana region, including in Scott. Residents can find a mix of traditionally styled homes with brick exteriors, rancher-style houses and manufactured homes in Scott, as well as newer homes and Acadian-style estates on large lots. An average single-family home typically sells near the $227,000 mark, with some of the area’s most impressive residences selling for $500,000 or higher.

Boudin, beignets and everyday needs
