At-ease suburban living in West Mobile
People may settle down in Ferry for a quieter, slower pace of life or for proximity to The Grounds, a venue that hosts an annual state fair and other events. Ferry’s appeal also lies in its desirable, budget-friendly homes and proximity to Semmes Municipal Park and retail on Schillinger Road. “Ferry has that small-town feel. It’s safe and a good place to raise kids,” says Realtor Marcile Sims who’s had 15 years of experience in the area and works with Synergy Realty Group.

Ranch-style homes with large yards in West Mobile
West of downtown Mobile, Ferry is a mostly residential area. As with many suburbs, it’s not very walkable, but with the extra space comes larger lot sizes. The neighborhood’s large yards are often lined with tall trees and leafy hedges. Homes are rarely on the market, but those that are listed tend to be ranch-style homes with brick or vinyl exteriors. Previous listings range between $115,000 and $200,000, and recent available listings go up to $250,000. “It’s an affordable place to live. The houses are usually smaller and one-story,” Sims says.
