Ranch-styles and occasional two-story Colonial Revivals from the 1930s to the 1960s dot the suburban, tree-lined neighborhood streets, and homes here generally list between $200,000 and $300,000. The average single-family home size is around 1,000 square feet, and neighbors usually have well-tended gardens and yards. Most vacant land sells from about $20,000 to $35,000, with larger lots listing around $130,000. “Many investors are also looking into the area for investment,” Torres says. “It’s a stable market, people are moving here and have stable jobs; homes maintain their value, and rentals make good returns.”

Staple establishments include the Italian place Il Ritrovo, Umi Sushi and Steak House and Paradigm Coffee and Music, a vegan eatery that occasionally has live music events.

The community has several neighborhood parks, including Grace Park and Cleveland Park. Both places have play structures, sports facilities and open green fields. Several blocks north, Evergreen Park is a popular spot for fishing and playing disc golf. The park also has many walking and biking trails, which can be used for cross-country skiing in winter. About 3 miles east, the waterfront Vollrath Park has sports facilities and an interactive music initiative for children. The park hosts Food Truck Mondays in the summertime, and its hills are turned into sledding grounds come winter.
