Lake Michigan’s western shore is about 1 mile east of the community, and residents can go surfing at South Shore Beach, and then take a shower and dry off at the adjacent King Park. “People like to be out in the waters,” Torres says. “They can boat and do all sorts of water activities along the Sheboygan River and Lake Michigan.” Sheboygan Lakers Ice Center is open to the public for ice skating, while Golf 365 has simulators and lets people enjoy the sport indoors.

Students here may attend James Madison Elementary School or Sheridan Elementary School, each of which has a B-minus and a C grade from Niche, respectively. Lively restaurants and bars dot the streets along Indiana Avenue. Popular eateries include Frankie's Pub & Grill, known for its classic gastropub fare, West Side Bakery and Cafe Bella, a staple breakfast spot near the lakefront. South Eighth Street and South 12th Street also have more local establishments. “It’s a very nice area in general; the lake is right there with lots of fantastic dining, and the city hosts lots of nice events there,” Torres says. Aldi and big-box stores such as Kohl’s are north of the area along Taylor Drive.
