Popular eateries include Frankie's Pub & Grill, known for its classic gastropub fare, West Side Bakery and Cafe Bella, a staple breakfast spot near the lakefront. South Eighth Street and South 12th Street also have more local establishments. “It’s a very nice area in general; the lake is right there with lots of fantastic dining, and the city hosts lots of nice events there,” Torres says. Aldi and big-box stores such as Kohl’s are north of the area along Taylor Drive.
