Sheldon is a Houston community where industry and nature unite
Centered around the 2,800-acre Sheldon Lake State Park and the neighboring Kelly Pipe distribution center, the community of Sheldon is a place where "nature and industry coexist," says Sheldon Lake State Park Superintendent Kelley Parker. A 20-mile drive from downtown Houston, Sheldon was once a small region with a population of under 100 residents known for agricultural production. Now, with the development of new subdivisions containing large single-family homes, Sheldon is growing into something much bigger.

Newer subdivisions take bloom while older homes sit along Beltway 8
Sheldon offers a unique mixture of older and newer homes just a stone's throw from one another. The Sheldon Ridge development features larger builds with brick facades constructed as recently as 2023 while older manufactured and ranch-style homes are clustered off of Beltway 8. Smaller, older properties can price between $100,000 and $300,000 while larger homes contained within a planned community often range from $300,000 to north of $400,000. Sheldon's housing market is less competitive than average with some homes taking a month or two to sell.
