Ridgecrest is a Shoreline paradise
Ridgecrest is a residential paradise in Shoreline, named for its sandy beaches tracing the city's edge against Lake Washington and the Puget Sound. One of the first suburban neighborhoods north of Seattle, Ridgecrest is in an efficient corridor for public transportation with Shoreline South Station, a new access point for the Sound Transit light rail. Ridgecrest's eclectic streets lead to local pubs and contemporary homes from the mid-20th century, with proximity to the shore. "It's convenient for commuting to the University of Washington and Downtown Seattle," says Ericka Nash, a native of the Pacific Northwest and Broker at Compass Washington. "Some parts of Shoreline have lower property taxes outside of King County, and people like it because you can walk along the water."
Eclectic landscaping and cozy properties for commuters
This neighborhood has many homes with eclectic landscaping, some with juniper bushes, rose gardens and towering evergreens above fenced-in backyards. Ridgecrest features contemporary houses, ranch-style homes and Craftsman-style cottages built in the 1950s. The average house size is about 1,500 square feet and the area is still developing. "Because of the new light rail station and all of Shoreline's housing options, people in the tech industry don't mind the limited square footage," says Kathe Trost, Broker at Windermere Real Estate Seattle-Greenwood. Single-family housing prices begin at $500,000 and reach $1.3 million for homes over 3,000 square feet. Townhouses cost between $300,000 and $600,000.
