Elm Grove is a rural, residential community located on the south side of Bossier Parish, a highly desirable area known to locals as "SoBo." This community is near Barksdale Air Force Base, in the heart of the parish, attracting military personnel. “The schools are good, it’s close to Lake Binteanu, and there are some beautiful homes on many acres,” says Karen Johnson, a Realtor with Keller Williams Northwest who sells throughout the area and lives in nearby North Bossier.

Elm Grove’s homes are an eclectic mix of manufactured, ranch-style, New Traditional and waterfront cottages near Lake Bistineau. They have anywhere from two to four bedrooms and range in price from $170,000 to $550,000, with higher-priced homes featuring more square footage and lots spanning multiple acres. Main roadways are only two lanes, and homes sit far back from them, often flanked by mature trees.
Flooding is possible throughout the area, and owners are urged to purchase flood insurance. Bossier City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program, which helps residents secure insurance from local agents. Tornadoes are also possible in Elm Grove and the surrounding areas. Regarding crime, this community scores one out of 10 on the CAP Index, three points lower than the national average.
Buyers will find a plethora of Cypress trees growing all around Elm Grove.

B-plus-rated schools with support for military families
The schools zoned to the community are Elm Grove Elementary, Elm Grove Middle and Parkway High. All three schools rate a B-plus on Niche and are encompassed by Bossier Parish Schools. Parkway High offers clubs and organizations, including Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), Bossier Youth Leadership and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Bossier Parish Schools has a program to help children from military families adjust to school, which includes a military family support manager.

The public course features a 27-hole layout. Residents head to the heart of Bossier, near Interstates 20 and 230, to run errands. Options include big-box stores, Willis-Knighton Hospital Bossier and a selection of local restaurants, including l2Johns Steak & Seafood, an upscale date night spot, and El Mariachi, a favorite for its authentic Mexican dishes.
Also near the interstates are services and churches of all denominations. “If you’re Baptist, there are plenty to choose from,” Johnson says. More shopping, dining and entertainment options are across the Red River in Shreveport. Residents can attend local events like the Barksdale Market, which takes place each Sunday and features produce and handmade goods from local vendors, and the Bossier Night Market, which is larger and occurs a few times a year in the parking lot of the Pierre Bossier Mall.
Barksdale Farmers Market occurs every Sunday in the summer and Fall months.
Elm Grove gamers can check out the casinos in downtown Shreveport and Bossier City.

Highway 71 and Route 157 provide quick access to nearby areas
U.S. Highway 71 and State Route 157 run through Elm Grove, connecting to other South Bossier communities and the interstates. Shreveport Regional Airport is about 25 miles away.
