Pueblo del Sol Country Club Estates
High-dollar, course-side homes in Sierra Vista
Buyers here are likely looking for a view of a fairway or green, and they pay more because of it. But it’s not the most expensive neighborhood in Sierra Vista; Hagele describes it as an “upper middle” price range, with a median sale price around $350,000. Ranch-style homes in Country Club Estates start at $240,000 and reach $525,000 with more square footage and newer build dates. Two-story homes can be found in this range, too, but they’re rarer. Besides the golf course views, color differentiates these homes from the rest of Sierra Vista. Stucco exteriors can be anything between light pink and lime green, and most tile roofs are orange. There are a couple gated homeowners association subdivisions within the larger Country Club Estates community. One such subdivision is Mission Shadows, a gated community right next to the golf course. “It’s so immaculate, you could eat off the streets,” Hagele says. “Those properties very rarely go on the market because people keep them in the family.” Inventory is usually high for the neighborhood as a whole, though. The CAP Index Crime Score is 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.Sierra Vista Golf Center and the Huachuca Mountains
Pueblo del Sol Country Club got a new name in July 2024, and it’s now known as Sierra Vista Golf Center at Pueblo del Sol. Most locals shorten it to PDS. This public 18-hole course weaves through the neighborhood, and its fairways have views of the Huachuca Mountains. Residents often drive golf carts to the club’s bar and restaurant, and its TVs are popular for sports watch parties. While this club is central in the neighborhood, Tompkins Park is just west with walking paths and more mountain views. Its volleyball and basketball courts are a short walk from its playground and fenced-in dog park. Just south of the neighborhood, the Garden Canyon Linear Park Trail is roughly a 13-mile hike and leads to Brown Canyon Ranch, a historic property from the early 1900s. Other nearby trails scale the mountains and gain thousands of feet in elevation, such as the Huachuca Peak and Miller Peak trails.Fast-paced birding in Sierra Vista
Hummingbirds are a common sight around the neighborhood and the city overall. “Sierra Vista is the hummingbird capital of the United States because they migrate through here,” says Brenda Pettit, a local of neighboring Hereford and a Realtor Associate with Haymore Real Estate since 2013. “People come from all over to see them.” The Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory hosts hummingbird banding sessions from April through October, when they catch and examine the creatures. Attendees often get a chance to hold one.Next to The Mall at Sierra Vista, state Route 92 restaurants
The country club’s restaurant and bar is the most popular spot in the neighborhood, but other food spots are just north. Golden Dragon serves Chinese food in a casual setting, and Vinny’s New York Pizza has both square- and triangle-cut pies. The Mall at Sierra Vista is walkable from northernmost homes, and it has retailers such as Hibbett Sports and Hot Topic. About 2 miles up state Route 92, additional shopping centers have Target, Walmart and others.Walkable to elementary and middle schools, Sierra Vista Unified School District
Village Meadows Elementary, just northeast of the neighborhood, gets a B from Niche and serves kindergarten through sixth grade. Joyce Clark Middle is nearby with another B. Buena High is on the city’s north side with a B-minus, and its performing arts program stands out with year-round performances.Neighboring towns via Buffalo Soldier Trail and state Route 92
Locals can drive golf carts within the neighborhood, but cars are needed for busy thoroughfares. Buffalo Soldier Trail is a four-lane road along the neighborhood’s southern and western sides, and it leads north out of town. It also connects to state Route 92, the commercial corridor along the neighborhood’s eastern side. This highway goes roughly 30 miles south to Bisbee and the U.S.-Mexico border. Connected to 92, state Route 90 goes about 70 miles northwest to Tucson International Airport. An alternative for drivers, Sierra Vista Transit operates throughout Sierra Vista. Its Blue Line stops on Avenida Cochise, along the neighborhood's north side.
