Anthony
Country roads lined with rural homesteads and farmland
Locals drive along country roads, passing by modest and expansive homesteads and cows grazing in fields on either side. Anthony's streetscape is quiet, with gentle hills and very little traffic, adding to the community's secluded small-town charm. Most homes in the area date back to the 1980s and 1990s, with a small mix of contemporary homes and newer builds. Modest ranch-style and manufactured houses are the most common home style in the neighborhood, with the exception of the handful of large farmhouses and luxury gated communities in the area. Most locals are drawn to Anthony's homes for the open rural spaces, as EXP realtor Joe Brown says, “you get away from all the city hubbub into a town like Anthony, that’s God’s own country.” Farmers, cattle raisers and horse breeders are common among the residency of Anthony and surrounding communities. Area home prices largely depend on the home lot's size. Home prices range from $225,000 for a three-bedroom ranch-style house on one-third of an acre to $925,000 for a farmhouse on nearly 10 acres of land.Hiking and boating through pristine nature preserves
Anthony's low-traffic streetscape allows locals to walk the neighborhood and take in the country scenery. Kids often play outside in the street and on playgrounds in Anthony Community Park. Seven miles to the south on Northeast 35th Street is Coehadjoe Park, which features miles of forested walking trails, a nature-themed play area, and tennis, basketball and volleyball courts. A bit further east is the Silver Springs State Park and Forest Conservation Area. The state park features the largest natural spring in the United States, where hikers and kayakers can experience the pristine forest and glass-bottom boat tours show off the myriad of underwater life along the riverbed.Go local for dinner and a short drive for groceries
Locals won't have to drive far in Anthony for groceries or a hot meal. Along Old US Highway 301 is Papy's Place, a rural-themed establishment serving up hearty portions of homestyle American fare. More restaurants and shopping are available at Pearl Britain Plaza, about six miles south along Northeast 35th Street. Franchise restaurants like Wise Guys Pizza offer specialty pies and other Italian-American dishes. Locals do their shopping next door at the Pearl Britain Publix.High achieving students at Marion County Public Schools
