Rural Snoqualmie River Valley community with Mount Si views
Ernie's Grove is a rural, forested area in the Snoqualmie Valley at the base of Mount Si and close to North Bend and Snoqualmie. The community, close to the north fork of the Snoqualmie River, is quiet and secluded. "When you drive out to Ernie's Grove, you feel like you're in the country. It's like a whole other world: more space and houses have a little more land. Obviously, the mountain views are incredible," says Kelli Bybee, a real estate broker with Valley Realty Group who has over two decades of experience. Her family has operated Bybee Farms for generations. "I love this valley so much, and it makes me so happy when people are looking here," she says.
In the early 20th century, the area was a vacation destination for Seattle city dwellers. Ernie Hodgeson, one of the landowners who built vacation cabins here, is the namesake of the "Grove." Later, more people bought land and built homes, and over time, it grew into a small community with year-round residents.
The Snoqualmie River is an important part of the neighborhood.

It's about 5 miles south to downtown North Bend and the same distance west to Snoqualmie. "Ernie Grove's is so close to town and the interstate, but it feels like you are far away," Bybee says. The trip west to Seattle, about 32 miles, is mainly via Interstate 90, which runs east of North Bend.

Farm events like cruise-ins, blueberry picking and seasonal markets
Off North Fork Road Southeast is North Fork Farm, a venue for everything from weddings to graduation parties. The North Fork Farm Cruise-In is a free event series held at the farm in the summer and early fall. The motorcycle and vehicle-themed gathering has vendors and food trucks. Rent's Due BBQ has been one of the local businesses in attendance. The farm also hosts an annual fall market, a wedding show, Santa visits and a Christmas Market.
South of Ernie's Grove, Bybee Farms has pick-your-own blueberries during harvest season, roughly mid-July to early September. "Our farm sits at the base of Mount Si. People are picking blueberries and staring up at the mountain," Bybee says. "My grandfather planted blueberries in 1946 and holly in 1949. From mid-November until Christmas, if someone wants a garbage bag full of holly, they can come cut it, or we can cut it. It's something local people know us for." The farm brings out food trucks during blueberry season, is a rentable venue and has plans for other community events. "We will be hosting a makers market for handmade stuff," Bybee says.

Flooding is possible, though the risk has been reduced
Flood warning signs are on some roads in Ernie's Grove. "Sometimes the road is blocked off. There's always a potential for flooding when you live by a river," Bybee says, explaining that physical changes engineered at Snoqualmie Falls and culverts installed by King County have altered the water flow, reducing flooding. "We used to get really bad floods, but I haven't really seen it a lot these days." The county monitors flood phases for the forks of the Snoqualmie River and has a warning system.
