South Grafton is a semi-rural community about 12 miles southeast of Worcester. The neighborhood is mostly residential, with subdivisions that have cul-de-sacs and sidewalks. About 3 miles north, deeper into Grafton, is the historic downtown area, where local shops and eateries surround a central common. With highly-rated schools and easy access to major roadways, the neighborhood has a sense of kinship. “The neighborhood maintains a bit of a country feel with larger lot sizes compared to neighboring towns,” says Lisa Benway, a Realtor with RE/MAX Vision. “Even though it’s semi-rural, it maintains a nice community feel.”

Fertile farmland with room to grow
“Grafton used to be mainly farmland,” says Benway. “Around 2007, there was a housing boom, so South Grafton tends to have newer developments because of building at that time.” Most homes in the neighborhood sit in established subdivisions with wide, walkable streets. Prices range from $300,000 to $900,000, and common styles include Colonial-Revival, ranch-style and bungalows. $400,00 will get buyers a townhome or three-bedroom property that might need updating. For around $700,000, expect a four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom house with a spacious front yard and an open, updated kitchen. There are also multi-family options within the neighborhood, many of which are historic homes.
