A south Salt Lake suburb away from the city noise
Oquirrh Park is a small suburb that’s 19 miles south of Salt Lake City. It’s filled with more homes, parks and churches than restaurants, malls and nightclubs, keeping all city traffic and demand outside its borders. “The streets are quiet,” says Thomas Larson, a Realtor with 20 years of experience in Salt Lake at Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s a relaxed neighborhood, but it’s convenient in that it’s close to parks, school, shopping- everything.” The neighborhood is known for its namesake park, Oquirrh Shadows Park, and its laidback lifestyle. “People tend to move here to avoid HOA’s, compared to nearby areas like Daybreak,” says Brian Babb, a Realtor with Equity Real Estate who has been selling homes in the area for nearly a decade. The community offers serenity amidst the natural beauty of the Salt Lake Valley, while still providing proximity to everyday destinations and attractions in Salt Lake City.

A suburb with traditional homes
Oquirrh Park consists of townhomes, traditional two-story homes and newer contemporary properties. Townhomes have brick and vinyl exteriors and are priced between $400,000 and $500,000, while single-family homes range from $600,000 to $900,000, depending on the renovation and size. “Oquirrh Park was farmland that turned into a residential area,” Babb says. “Because of this, homes have larger lots.” The neighborhood has suburban features such as trimmed lawns, two-door garages and wide, walkable sidewalks. Homeowners have enough space in their yards to plant small gardens and trees, or put a trampoline in the backyard.
