Parkway Heights is right between major South Milwaukee amenities
Parkway Heights’s location in South Milwaukee puts it right between the local high school’s community centers and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. The high school campus is just across 115th Avenue from the neighborhood and is home to more than just student resources. The South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center and the South Milwaukee Fitness Center both sit on the campus, open to students and residents alike. “When they built it, they wanted it to be community-based, so they attached it to the old high school and now it’s one big campus,” says Realtor Amanda Guzlecki with Shorewest Realtors, who was born and raised in South Milwaukee. “It’s really nice having the Performing Arts Center for the students because we do get to use it for a bunch of activities, but they also rent it out, so there’s a bunch of different shows throughout the year.” If Parkway Heights residents need more to do, the Oak Creek Parkway goes through the neighborhood, heading towards the city’s beach along Lake Michigan.
South Milwaukee's schools and their public community centers
Rawson Elementary School receives a B-minus from Niche. C-rated South Milwaukee Middle School is on the same campus as the high school. South Milwaukee High School receives a B-minus. South Milwaukee Fitness Center is part of the high school campus complex, but South Milwaukee residents can get a membership to work out there. “They have an indoor track, multiple gyms and a weight room,” Guzlecki says. The South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center presents shows from the high school and local organizations, while also bringing in orchestras, bands and theater groups on tour.
The district passed a referendum in April 2024, adding $2 million to the school budget, aiming to bring more STEM opportunities and technology to all schools, while also doing general renovations and improvements. Specifically, new crosswalks were added to Rawson Elementary’s campus to keep students safe around school.

Here, the Seven Bridges Hiking Trail takes visitors through the park, ending at the beach. “You can swim if you’d like to, and on one part of the beach, you have the yacht club, so you can keep your boat there,” Guzlecki says. The park also has an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and soccer fields. Hickory Park is a neighborhood park down the street from Parkway Heights homes. Football posts mark the end zones on the open field, where local football leagues play. There’s also a playground and tennis and basketball courts.
