Unique ranch-style homes in Sparks
Gently curving neighborhood streets are wide with a good amount of tree cover. It’s not uncommon to see neighbors out playing tennis or doing yoga. Shaded, paved pathways allow space for jogging, biking and walking dogs. Homes tend to have short driveways, front-facing attached garages and pitched roofs. Most homes are some form of ranch-style, but are not homogenous: some have unique touches like green exterior accents, adobe tile roofs or wooden fences. Three to four-bedroom homes cost between $420,000 and $510,000. One and two-bedroom condos are available in the $200,000s; a three-bedroom goes for $365,000. Monthly rates for condos and apartments start at $1,335.Plenty of parks & access to Sierra Nevada Mountains
Centrally located Shadow Mountain Park and Pah Rah Mountain Park, Woodtrail Park to the south and Les Hicks Jr. Park to the north provide ample outdoor recreation opportunities. Additionally, D’Andrea Golf & Country Club is just a few streets over. In the broader sense, “Reno and Sparks are connected, and all the area neighborhoods have good access to outdoor activities,” says Gil. Additionally, “access to Lake Tahoe and skiing is a big draw for the area,” and Reed is about 30 miles from Mount Rose, a popular hiking and skiing spot with locals.Highly-rated schools within 2 miles of homes
Students in Reed may attend Washoe County School District. Lloyd Diedrichsen Elementary School teaches prekindergarten through Grade 6 and earns a B-plus from Niche. Jerry Whitehead Elementary School also earns a B-plus; it is located right next to Pah Rah Mountain Park. Lou Mendive Middle School and Reed High School have both earned a B from Niche. Reed High School offers dual enrollment with the University of Nevada. Excel Christian School is the #5 Best High School for the Arts in Nevada according to Niche, earning a B-plus overall. All these schools are within a couple miles of neighborhood homes.Walk around the neighborhood or drive into Reno
Reed is considered a highly bikeable and walkable area. This neighborhood is not heavy on public transit, but there are some bus stops along East Prater Way. Sparks Boulevard and Baring Boulevard are the community’s main thoroughfares. They lead into North McCarran Boulevard, which takes commuters to Reno and Interstate 80. Medical attention is highly convenient: Renown Health Urgent Care and Northern Nevada Medical Center are about 3 miles from most homes. Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the University of Nevada—Reno are both about 9 miles away. The shopping centers of Sparks
Area restaurants include Port of Subs, Jimboy’s Tacos and Original Thai Restaurant. In Baring Village Shopping Center, Coffee N’ Comics sells rare comics, serves up brews and hosts community events. Locals head to Smith’s when it’s time for a grocery run. More shopping is available at Sparks Galleria Shopping Center, 2 miles northwest, and The Outlets at Legends in Sparks Marina, 2 miles south. Sparks Marina is also home to Wild Island Family Adventure Park, a popular waterpark in the summer. Plus, “downtown Sparks has great concerts, festivals and a Christmas parade,” says Gil.
