Beacon Drive-In is entangled in Northside's community
Along the roads of Northside are government buildings, service providers and office spaces. For fresh produce and artisan goods, Hub City Farmers Market is less than a mile away at Northside Harvest Park. A handful of restaurants have recently joined the neighborhood. Sully Steamers is a new sandwich shop, and the chain Moe's Original BBQ is a favorite for smokehouse flavors. Locals can pick up coffee or ice cream at Knowledge Perk Coffee Company and Two Scoops next door. However, there are still a few Sparkle City staples hanging around, like the “World Famous” Beacon Drive-In. The beloved restaurant sits on John B. White Boulevard, named after its founder, and was featured on the pilot episode of Guy Fieri’s "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". “We have a long history with the community here, and everyone has ties to us somehow,” Duncan says. “I would need 50,000 photos to tell our story. We’re the definition of True Americana.” Signature burgers and sandwiches can be ordered “A-Plenty,” which includes a ton of onion rings and fries. The drive-in restaurant’s parking lot hosts bluegrass bands, car shows and, recently, a gathering for a community wide prayer. Within the neighborhood are small convenience stores and shops to source pantry items, like ASC Food Stores & Fresh Seafood. Residents can reach the nearest supermarket, Food Lion, about a mile away.Northside is home to many townhouse rentals

Cleveland Park is within walking distance. This large swath of land sits off Howard Street and is home to the John B. Cleveland Event Center. The park is always busy with families walking dogs, kids enjoying the playground and ducks wading on the lake. Butterfly Branch Greenway is a half-mile trail for bicyclists and pedestrians, starting at the college and ending at the Hub City Urban Farm. The Northside also has a handful of small play areas throughout the community; however, many head south to Barnet Park for a moment of relaxation or an outdoor festival.A night out at the Chapman Cultural Center
The Chapman Cultural Center is nearby, showcasing 12 exhibits annually. The center also houses the Spartanburg Little Theatre, a local gathering spot for plays and ballet performances.
