Spring Lake has a charming boardwalk and coastal homes
The quaint town of Spring Lake is known for its beautiful beachfront along the Jersey Shore. Nestled in Monmouth County, the peaceful boardwalk and charming downtown appeal to residents. “Among the coastal towns, it’s the longest non-commercial beachfront town,” says Jenifer Green Grigg, a Broker Manager with Jack Green Realty who has specialized in the Spring Lake area for over 10 years. “Spring Lake generally has the largest lot sizes that are close to the actual beach, so that makes it very desirable.” Desire for the area means housing inventory is minimal and average prices are around $2.2 million.
Nicknamed the “Jewel Of The Jersey Shore,” Spring Lake is known for its uncluttered, sandy beach and quaint downtown boutiques.

Large coastal colonial homes with lawns
“Most of the homes have a coastal colonial feel to them,” Grigg says. While spacious colonials and Victorians are the predominant styles in Spring Lake, there are also older and smaller Cape Cods and ranch styles mixed in. The streets are lined with trees and sidewalks; almost all homes have manicured lawns, and many have gardens. In Spring Lake, you can find an updated four-bedroom colonial a few blocks from the beach for $2.7 million, an updated Cape Cod with six bedrooms for $4.85 million, or a seven-bedroom house directly across from the beach for $13 million. A few condos may be found, such as those in the Hewitt Wellington, formerly a hotel that was converted into a condo building.

Parks with walking paths and tennis courts
While the beach is the big outdoor draw, there are a few area parks. In the center of the neighborhood, Spring Lake is a 16-acre freshwater lake that provides a habitat for fish and birds, including ducks, swans, and great blue herons. Walking paths and bridges connect to Divine Park, which wraps around the lake and includes tennis courts and a playground. In the northern part of the neighborhood, near Lake Como, Marucci Memorial Park offers multiple tennis courts.

Charming downtown shops, plus Whole Foods nearby
The downtown area is found along Third Avenue, which offers shopping at jewelry and clothing stores, a book shop and a homemade candy store. Restaurants line the street, including Honey Berry Café and Spring Lake Seafood, which is both a fresh fish market and restaurant with lobster and clams on the menu. Also on Third Avenue, Spring Lake Pizzeria and Driftwood Coffee House are popular local spots. The area’s large Irish-American population has contributed to the moniker the “Irish Riviera,” and the Irish Centre shop downtown sells Irish sweaters, dishware and small gifts. Groceries are available at Whole Foods and ALDI in Wall Township.
