A Canyon Gate community in Spring, Texas

Legends Ranch is a 450-acre Canyon Gate community in Spring, Texas, known for its prime location, variety of homes and resort-style amenities 30 miles north of Houston. "Legends Ranch is a gated community, and that's hard to come by around here," says Peyo Rubio, an experienced Realtor with Texas Grand Real Estate who lives in the neighborhood. In addition to increased security, Legends Ranch offers a mix of townhouses, patio homes and single-family residences. "The diversity of housing styles and price ranges caters to a larger pool of buyers," Peyo says. "So we have a more diverse community than the typical family-oriented suburb.” In Legends Ranch, residents are greeted with a stately ranch-style clubhouse and pool that overlooks a lake just past its front gates. In addition to luxurious amenities, the neighborhood’s proximity to major thoroughfares, highly rated schools and the airport make Legends Ranch a sought-after destination for families, aviation employees and Downtown Houston commuters.

Townhouses, patio and single-family homes

A brick-and-stone sign with a five-point Texas star greets those entering Legends Ranch from Rayford Road. After scanning past the 24/7 guarded gate, residents drive down quiet streets dotted with mature foliage as they wind around three artificial lakes. Along Legends Ranch Drive, pockets of townhouse-style duplexes and patio homes with two-car garages range in price from the low-$200,000s to the low-$300,000s. Other roads give way to New Traditional, modern transitional and classic Texas-style homes with one-level floorplans, some of which boast lakeside views. Attached garages, tidy landscaping and fenced-in backyards are common amenities. These single-family homes typically range from the $300,000s to the $600,000s. Legends Ranch's CAP Index Crime Score is 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

Community events at the clubhouse

Legends Ranch boasts an active social committee that plans and oversees events. "All of our community events take place at the clubhouses," Peyo says. "We have cookies, cocoa and pictures with Santa in the winter, and then in February, we offer professional photos with a Valentine's themed backdrop." The holiday fun continues throughout the year with a spring festival, when a D.J., family-friendly activities and street vendors line otherwise quiet roads. The fall brings even more events, with an autumn festival before the school year begins. The nearby Faith United Methodist Church of Spring also hosts a makeshift pumpkin patch with activities.

The Woodlands, Old Town Spring and other amenities

Grocery stores, big-box retailers and dining options line Rayford Road. Popular chains such as Kroger, H-E-B, Aldi and Walmart Supercenter sit within a 2-mile radius of the community. Down the road, Legends Ranch residents can peruse seasonal farm-fresh produce, flowers and local honey at Theiss Farms Market.

Restaurants, coffee shops and chains are scattered around the State Route 99 corridor, including a new shopping center that features a Regal cinema with reclining chairs, a modern Mexican restaurant and Bytes Arcade + Eatery. Next door, Woodson's Local Tap + Kitchen offers almost 30 beers on tap and a diverse menu ranging from jambalaya to birria egg rolls. Seven miles north, The Woodlands features dozens of amenities, including Market Street, a mall with over 160 retailers, an outdoor plaza and gathering place, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, an outdoor performance venue. Residents are also 5 miles from Old Town Spring, where the small Main Street with a Western flair features quaint boutiques, wine bars, and allegedly haunted eateries like Wunsche Bros. Cafe & Saloon, known for its ghouls, ghosts and gratifying barbecue.
