Monroe Park West is a bridge between country and suburbia
Compact and secluded, Monroe Park West is one of the last developed neighborhoods in West Springfield before the city gives way to rural areas and farmland. As a result, this community offers a living experience with convenient shopping and dining alongside a laid-back, woodsy setting. Rickard Road runs through the majority of the neighborhood, giving residents a sense of privacy reinforced by the natural setting. Looming trees and the neighborhood's manmade lake to the north contribute to the outdoorsy feel of this classic suburban neighborhood.
Midcentury homes with a view of the lake
Monroe Park West is younger than neighborhoods found closer to the heart of Downtown Springfield, so the homes feature midcentury designs like ranch-style or split level, with a median construction date of 1986. As a result, homes tend to be modern, with open floor plans and more square footage. The newest and largest homes are generally found in the northern section of the neighborhood, many surrounding the artificial lake along Victoria Drive. Though not a gated community, three entry points and a central street limit through traffic and give the area more privacy. Homes start in the mid-$100,000s for some of the smaller models, with prices going as high as the mid-$300,000s as houses get larger and gain exclusive features like a view of the lake.
Monroe Park West home prices range from 150,000 to 350,000 dollars.
