Proximity to Interstate 55 means work commutes often avoid some of the worst traffic. “It’s close to the highway, which makes it easy to get around,” says Jim Ackerman, a lawyer with Ackerman Law Office who’s served the area for over 35 years. “I can drive directly into the neighborhood without driving through the city.” Sidewalks make the neighborhood reasonably walkable, but trips for business or pleasure will require a car. Sangamon Mass Transit District provides public transportation, with several bus stops along South 5th Street.
