Washington Park covers over 150 acres, making it one of the city's largest public spaces. Visitors flock to the park for playgrounds, tennis courts, historical monuments and memorials. The Washington Park Botanical Garden showcases a wide array of plants from around the globe, displayed in several themed designs. Additionally, the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon hosts live musical performances on Wednesday through Sunday evenings throughout the summer.
Nearby Interstate 72 offers easy access to Springfield's downtown and beyond. Streets are lined with winding sidewalks, making walking or biking a popular way of getting from one end of the neighborhood to the other. Those who prefer public transportation rely on the Sangamon Mass Transit District, which provides bus service throughout Springfield with stops on Koke Mill Road and Spring Mill Drive.
