Springfield Township offers private, country living with city access
Springfield Township offers quiet countryside just 60 miles from Pittsburgh, where cozy log cabins are hidden by forests. While this quaint community is largely rural, access to luxury amenities is just a short drive away. Marcia Speicher, a Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway, recently had clients who bought a home in Springfield. "He wanted to be close to a golf course, and she wanted a log cabin in the middle of the country where she could forget the world," says Speicher, who’s been selling homes in the area for more than 14 years.

Hiking trails, fly-fishing and ski slopes surround the township
Surrounded by small mountains and dense forests, this rural community offers abundant hiking and fly-fishing opportunities. Locals can trek the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail at Laurel Ridge State Park near the edge of town or cast a line in the centrally located Mill Run Reservoir. "This is the playground for people who come from the city of Pittsburgh," Speicher says. Springfield is also located near several resorts. Residents can hole up in a yurt or play a round of paintball at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, a family-centric resort in the unincorporated Springfield community of Mill Run. Just 10 miles from town, locals can hit the slopes at the world-class Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
