Hunting is popular here. Deer season runs Dec. 5 through Jan. 12, if using a firearm. Duck season is open from November through January on specific days. Other animals can be hunted at different times throughout the year. The nearby Bodcau Wildlife Management Area has opportunities for hunting as well as camping and fishing on Ivan Lake. Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park has around 5,000 acres for riders to explore, though it is only open for specific festivals and private events. “People will line up for miles to get into that park, dragging their trailers and ATVs along,” Hanson says, noting that it even attracts out-of-state riders.
