For students with early interests in mathematics and science, McKinley STEM Academy offers a specialized curriculum that earned it a Project Lead The Way Distinguished School award in 2023. The school earns an A grade on Niche. Harding Middle School, located just west of the neighborhood on Sunset Boulevard, holds a B-plus grade. Steubenville High School offers six Advanced Placement courses for students to earn early credit at participating colleges and universities. The school earns a B grade on Niche. Immediately north of the neighborhood, Franciscan University offers associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees implementing the Catholic faith. The school holds a B-minus grade on Niche.

Northwest of the neighborhood near the Franciscan University campus, Belleview Park has baseball diamonds, tennis courts and a pool. The city’s parks and recreation department offers swimming lessons for families during the summer. To the neighborhood’s east, the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center offers pickleball, a playground and a gymnasium. Kids can join basketball and flag football programs at the facility, which also features a game room with an Xbox console.

Dining traditions along University Boulevard
On the north side of the neighborhood, Capri Sausage and Meatball has served a simple menu of meatball sandwiches, spaghetti platters and sausage for more than 50 years. Other dining options near University Boulevard include sub sandwiches from Jimmy John’s and Irish pub selections from The Harp and Habit. Steubenville’s primary retail hub is just east of LaBelle along Sunset Boulevard, and has a few local places alongside fast food staples. Breakfast Club of Steubenville is an easygoing daytime diner with rotating feature menus alongside classic pancake and waffle platters. Guests can stop in for red velvet pancakes during the Valentine’s Day season or try the pumpkin spice cappuccino in the fall. First Fridays and holiday cheer in Downtown Steubenville
To the neighborhood’s east in Downtown Steubenville, residents can join in the monthly First Friday festivities. Each month brings rotating live entertainment to Fourth Street, and businesses across the city’s main street join in with events and offerings made to fit a new theme each month. Locals can also find the Steubenville Farmers Market on Fourth Street, where vendors gather to sell produce, baked goods and other items directly to the public.
Annual events in the city include the Steubenville Nutcracker Village, where businesses display their own uniquely themed nutcracker statues. Each summer, the Dean Martin Festival happens at several venues in town, with highlights including karaoke contests and tribute performances at The Spot Bar to the neighborhood’s east.

Residents traveling northeast to Weirton can take University Boulevard to reach Veterans Memorial Bridge and U.S. Route 22; the city’s counterpart across the state line is about 5 miles away. Commutes and trips to Pittsburgh are about 40 miles.
For emergency situations, the nearest hospital is Trinity Medical Center East, about 2 miles south of the neighborhood near Downtown Steubenville.
