Strewart Manor is a commuter-friendly community on Long Island
Just 20 miles east of the Big Apple lies a quaint and quiet village located in the heart of Nassau County, Long Island. Named after New York entrepreneur, Alexander Turney Stewart, this small village was first recognized in the 1920s. Stewart Manor is located east of Floral Park, south of New Hyde Park and west of Franklin Square. In 1927, Stewart Manor was incorporated as a village. Stewart Manor is predominantly residential, yet has convenient amenities nearby. Close proximity to the Long Island Railroad provides residents with direct access to Midtown Manhattan, and many businesses such as retail shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment establishments are just a short drive away. Stewart Manor is a desired neighborhood in New York, and as a primarily residential area, it offers peace and quiet near the railroad, which travels directly into business hubs in Manhattan.
A suburban setting with classic homes on tree-lined streets
Much of the neighborhood’s architectural styles include classic Cape Cod and Victorian-style builds. Residents here mostly own their homes and enjoy a true suburban feel, evidenced by minimal noise and beautiful tree-lined streets. Private lawns and outdoor space are perfect for homebuyers looking to raise children or own pets. Home prices tend to be above the national average and typically range from $650,000 to upwards of $1 million.
Elmont Free Union and Sewanhaka Central High School Districts
The village is home to Stewart Manor Elementary School, which is part of the Elmont Union Free School District and earns an A from Niche. Older students can attend the B-plus-rated Sewanhaka High School, part of the top-rated Sewanhaka Central High School District.
Country clubs near Belmont Park and UBS Arena
Great news for the golfers out there – Stewart Manor is just a short distance from Garden City Country Club, where friends and family can tee off and enjoy the beautifully manicured and expansive green spaces. The club also features racquetball courts and hosts various social events. Stewart Manor is also home to Stewart Manor Country Club, a beautiful wedding venue, tucked within the quiet residential streets along Salisbury Avenue.
Belmont Park is also a huge asset close to the neighborhood. Established in 1905, this major thoroughbred horse racing facility is known for hosting some of the most incredible moments in racing history. Many other events are held here as well, which attract large gatherings. Stewart Manor’s proximity to Belmont Park makes it convenient to take part in numerous fun activities and events. Immerse yourself in the exciting energy of watching horse races, or stroll around and enjoy drinks and food onsite. Other notable attractions include concerts and sporting events at the newly erected UBS Arena, home of the NHL’s New York Islanders. Stewart Manor is home to many local businesses such as restaurants, grocery stores and retail shops – mostly found along Covert Avenue and Jericho Turnpike. If you love breakfast sandwiches, you can’t go wrong with their classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll. Coupled with a hot cup of coffee is the perfect way to start your day. If you need to shop for groceries or other general items, Stewart Manor has plenty of options. Enjoy convenient access to nearby supermarkets like Key Food. Many large retailers such as Target, Home Depot, and Marshall’s are also just a short drive away.
Access to the Long Island Rail Road and highways near Manhattan
Like most Long Island neighborhoods, having a personal vehicle is the most convenient way to get around. With that said, Stewart Manor has great public transportation via the Long Island Railroad, which connects residents directly into Midtown Manhattan in approximately 30 minutes. The neighborhood is also situated relatively close to the Cross Island Parkway and Route 25, allowing for smooth travel.
