Succasunna students can begin at Jefferson Elementary School, which earns a Niche rating of B-plus. From there, students can move on to fellow B-plus rated Eisenhower Middle School before finishing up at A-minus rated Roxbury High. Part of what makes the area standout, the natural beauty and wealth of greenery surrounding the town help residents feel farther out than they really are. “One of my favorite places in the whole area is Horseshoe Lake,” says Sabella. “It’s a perfect place for a walk thanks to its horseshoe shape, there’s a great gazebo that’s perfect for photos, and you’re surrounded on all sides by the gorgeous lake.” Horseshoe Lake also features beach access, soccer fields, and basketball courts. For the younger residents of the community, Imagination Station provides a creative playground that features brightly painted climbing towers and a jungle gym.

Sometimes considered the “downtown” of Roxbury, Succasunna features much of the town’s business along Route 10. The Roxbury Diner is a cozy, old-school eatery offering up classic American fare, while the Black River Barn is one of the most popular spots in the area. Here, diners can enjoy a festive atmosphere with live music, craft cocktails and seasonal dishes – all inside an old-school barn next to Black River Pond.
