Busy neighborhood filled with amenities

Summerfield is a busy neighborhood filled with retail amenities and Florida charm, complete with meandering golf carts. “This community is amazing and there’s so much to do around here. If you’re bored, it’s your own fault,” says Brian Kiger who works in the pro shop at Eagle Ridge Golf Club. “The amenities around here are just great. If you want to hike, golf, paint or go rock climbing, whatever you want to do, they’ve got a group for every kind of interest.”

Stucco ranch-style homes are the norm

Homes in Summerfield are mostly stucco, traditional ranch-style homes with two-car garages and cozy front porches. Prices can range anywhere from $145,000 mobile homes to $865,000, ten-acre, equestrian community estates. Homes typically fall between 850 and 3,100 square feet in size and can date back as far as the early 1940s with some new construction as recent as 2023. Green lots ranging in size from 3,500 square feet to 10 acres boast long driveways, with smaller lots often connected by sidewalks. There are about 20,000 homes total in the neighborhood and the average number of days on the market for Summerfield homes is higher than the national average.

The park is also home to the Ma Barker House which was built in 1935 and now offers private tours. For a time, the house was rented by notorious gangsters Ma Barker and her son, who would later engage in the longest FBI shootout in history when police discovered their hideout. Eagle Ridge Golf Club was founded in 1999 and boasts four different courses with 36 holes between them that welcome both members and visiting golfers. Stonecrest Golf is another semi-private course that was designed by Steve Newgent. The par 72 course is in the middle of a retirement community and offers plenty of water hazards and championship tees. “Golf is sort of a big deal around here,” Kiger says. “I bet there are people who move here for the golf.”
