Franklin Park is a village in the Sylvania Township of Toledo that projects a country vibe. The streets are densely lined with trees, casting sun-dappled patterns on well-maintained front lawns. The roads in the area are a mix of straight and curvilinear patterns with limited access to major thoroughfares. It's common to see children playing outdoors and neighbors socializing in front of their homes on warm summer evenings. Many of the schools, parks and restaurants are either walkable or bikeable. Despite being a hub for business and commerce, the residential areas do not experience heavy traffic. The neighborhood meets the Michigan state line in the north and Interstate 475 to the south.

Townhomes and condos can be found in the area for $110,000 to $265,000. Bungalows and ranch-style homes dating back to the 1920s through the 50s are more common with prices ranging from $100,000 to $300,000, though homes in need of some renovations can sell for $40,000 to $100,000. Larger executive ranches, Tudor cottages and Spanish-influenced estates cost between $350,000 to $600,000.. The lot sizes for these homes range between an eighth of an acre to a third of an acre.

"People move here for some of the area's best school systems," says Angela Bronson, a Toledo local and librarian at the Washington Local Library. Franklin Park is zoned for Washington Local and Sylvania City school districts, both of which permit enrolled students to change schools. Students can start their education at Hill View Elementary School, which has an A-minus grade from Niche, and move on to Sylvania Arbor Hills Junior High School, which has a B-plus. Southview High School has an A-minus score. The district offers a wide range of career technical programs where students can study fields like computer programming, cosmetology, robotic engineering and medical technologies. These programs provide students with authentic hands-on experiences, help them earn professional licenses, secure internships, and participate in career-based extracurricular activities.

Toledo's only mall is a centerpiece
Franklin Park Mall, home to the area's only Apple Store and anchored by Dillard's, JCPenney and Macy's, is Toledo's only mall. In addition to over 160 stores and restaurants, the complex offers entertainment, including the Cinemark Franklin Park 16 theatre and Dave & Busters with an arcade's worth of games. Two major commercial thoroughfares are Munroe Street and Talmadge Road, which are peppered with chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews. Mancy's Italian Grill on Munroe offers comfy leather booths, wood-fired pizza and a bottle shop that serves chilled wines. J. Alexander's is a hot spot for fine dining. "It is on the pricier side, but the food is so good," Williams says. In addition to Kroger's, locals can pick up fresh produce and groceries at Monette's Market.

Gardens and a historic mansion
Centered around the historic and stately R. A. Stranahan Manor House, the 493-acre Wildwood Preserve Metropark is the most visited of Toledo's 19-park Metroparks. This expansive greenspace has scenic trails lined with sycamores and an elaborate play area with natural design elements. There's also a playground, picnic area, garden and a nature center where recreational clubs meet. On Sylvania Avenue, the R. A.
