Comfortable suburb surrounded by shopping and parks
Surrounded by extensive shopping and dining and verdant parks like the Miccowukee Canopy Road Greenway, North Tallahassee’s Capital Circle neighborhood has just about everything one could ask for in a comfy suburban enclave, including a wide range of modern and midcentury homes. And when locals need to get out of the neighborhood, they have Interstate 10 and US Highway 319 right at their doorstep, making getting around Tallahassee a breeze.
“It’s hard to single out the best part about living here; there’s just so much,” says local Realtor Jeff Doxssee of Capital Property Consultants, who has worked in the area for over 27 years. “It’s close to multiple hospitals, some of the best restaurants in Tallahassee are in the area, and the local bike and walking trails run for dozens of miles.”
Midcentury homes and more modern developments
The housing styles found in Capital Circle vary considerably depending on what part of the neighborhood you’re in. Many of the neighborhood’s streets are lined with elegant brick-walled midcentury ranch-style homes and split-levels. However, there are a number of more modern developments in the neighborhood as well, offering homebuyers their choice of a variety of new traditional homes featuring modern layouts and amenities. The average home value in the neighborhood is a little over $300,000, but sales prices vary considerably depending on the age and size of the home. Similarly, the median floorplan in the neighborhood offers around 1,700 square feet, but many more recently built homes have closer to 3,000 square feet of finished space.
Biking on the Miccosukee Greenway Trail
Residents looking to spend some time outside can take their pick of the parks and preserves nearby. Scenic Dorothy Oven Park offers standard amenities like fields and playgrounds, along with scenic walking trails. Those looking to do a bit of jogging, biking or even horseback riding can take advantage of the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway multi-use trail, which runs for 17 miles and connects the neighborhood with a network of bike trails running throughout Tallahassee.
Peaceful gardens located in the midst of the city can be found at Dorothy Oven Park.
The many miles of trails at Miccosukee Greenway are well used for exercise and leisure.

Lincoln High’s fantastic football team
The public schools in and around Capital Circle are administered by the Leon County Schools District. Moore Elementary has a B-plus grade on Niche, and Elizabeth Cobb Middle School has a B on the site. Lincoln High School boasts a stellar A rating and is known for its standout football program, which has played on national TV and was ranked the #4 “football factory” in the nation by Bleacher Report.
Capital Circle Beltway and Interstate 10
Most of the neighborhood’s residents are connected to the rest of Tallahassee by the Capital Circle Beltway, which runs through the neighborhood and connects it to other nearby thoroughfares, like Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 90. It’s roughly 5 miles from the neighborhood to Downtown Tallahassee by car and 15 miles to the Tallahassee International Airport via Interstate 10. While there is bus service in parts of the neighborhood, most routes run hourly, so getting around the city using public transportation requires a bit of planning and timing.
Major department stores and tons of restaurants
Capital Circle and the surrounding neighborhoods are home to some of the most extensive shopping in Greater Tallahassee. There are half a dozen major shopping malls and plazas within a mile drive of the neighborhood, home to department stores ranging from Costco to Rei, along with more specialized shops like the local Trek Bicycle outlet. When locals want to pick up groceries, they have their choice of two Publix, a Trader Joe’s and a Fresh Market.
Dining options in the area are similarly extensive. The neighborhood’s arterial roads, including its namesake, the Capital Circle Beltway, are lined with popular chains and local eateries. Highly-rated options include Canopy Road Cafe and popular Peruvian spot Cafe de Martin.
A quick stop at the Trek store will get you set up to ride around Capital Circle.
After a long day, Café De Martin is the place to go for a drink and Latin music.
