Live oaks covered with Spanish moss engulf the road to the rural neighborhood of Centerville. Limbs of hickory trees and sweet gums drape over the skinny, two-lane thoroughfare, greeting drivers heading northeast from Tallahassee. Florida is known for its beaches, but it’s all about nature in Tallahassee – leafy trees, hiking trails and hills. Centerville Road is one of nine canopy roads in the capital city, and it’s the main thoroughfare to a rural neighborhood in the growing northeast Tallahassee area. “Centerville Road is one of our canopy roads. It can go way, way out, northeast of town,” says Audrey Nedeau, real estate broker at Suite Real Estate, LLC in Tallahassee. “Out that way, people have horses.”
Canopy roads make Centerville one of the most beautiful communities in North Florida.
Horses have plenty of room to roam in Centerville Conservation.

10 minutes from red-hot Bradfordville, with chain stores and restaurants

Grocery shopping happens at Publix in nearby Bradfordville, which also features restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Moe’s Southwest Grill. "Canopy road" links directly with Interstate 10
Centerville’s main thoroughfare is Centerville Road, which eventually connects with Magnolia Drive just east of downtown Tallahassee. Before it hits downtown, Centerville Road links with Interstate 10, the main highway in Tallahassee, which runs east-west throughout the Florida panhandle. Downtown Tallahassee is about 30 minutes from Centerville, which is longer than most people in Tallahassee usually want to commute, Nedeau says. “A 40-minute drive in Tallahassee, that’s a lot. In Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville, people are used to an hour or two hours,” she says. “It’s all perspective. People come from other cities and states and say, ‘as long as I’m within an hour.’ Well, that’s anywhere in Tallahassee. Nowhere is going to take you an hour.”
