An artsy, walkable neighborhood in Tallahassee
An eclectic community for everyone from students and artists to young professionals, Levy Park remains one of Tallahassee’s most unique and diverse neighborhoods. “It’s an older area that’s gone through many phases,” says Casie Moran, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Hartung who is also a Tallahassee native. “Levy Park has a lot of great parks and restaurants that are all walkable. If you’re in Levy, you can get around mostly anywhere by foot.” Its artsy vibe is reflected in the neighborhood’s official sign, created by local artist and graphic designer Jerrod Landon Porter. Drilled into a redbrick wall, the seal proudly proclaims “Levy Park: An Awesome Neighborhood” in a jagged font that looks ripped from a punk band’s album cover. “We’re gardeners and urban farmers, bicyclists, skateboarders, walkers and runners,” says John Turner, president of Levy Park’s neighborhood association. “We like to plant butterfly gardens and host potluck dinners, barbecues, wine tastings and yard sales.”
