Eclectic homes and natural beauty draw buyers to Woodland Drives
With its towering loblollies and sprawling live oaks, Woodland Drives offers a tranquil natural setting while also being close to all the action of downtown Tallahassee. Within the neighborhood are multiple parks and nature trails, and Woodland Drives is also a short bicycle ride to downtown's Cascades Park. What draws homebuyers to the area? “Convenience, and the fact that you can get a beautiful and rather large home on a good size lot and be within skipping distance from federal buildings,” says Jessica Lowe-Minor, Realtor with Superior Realty Group. She adds that the neighborhood's "charming, quaint, eclectic" character is also a strong point. The upside of living in Woodland Drives is that you don't have to sacrifice quiet and charm for city amenities.

Brick ranchers common to the area are situated on mid-size lawns blanketed in sword fern and tropical foliage, and some homes feature Classical stylings such as porch columns. Larger New Traditional builds sit next to Cape Cod-style homes with brick exterior. The western part of the neighborhood encompasses the historic Myers Park district, where you’ll find bungalows and cottages dating back to the 1920s. Home prices in Woodland Drives range between $300,000 and $700,000 — although the median home price is around $390,000.

The country club is semi-private and offers play opportunities to the public. In addition to the 18-hole course, the club boasts a tennis complex, Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness center and two large banquet rooms, as well as the Champions Bar and Grill. Aside from the golf course, the neighborhood is home to Myers Park, which boasts tennis courts to perfect your volley and a swing set and play area shaded by live oaks. Get lost among swaying pines as you wind through the nearly 1-mile-long hiking trail. The Myers Park Baseball Field hosts league play for ages 11 and 12, and Myers Park is also home to Wade Wehunt Pool, where you can cool down during those hot Florida summers.
Breweries, markets and music venues all local to Woodland Drives
Monroe Street serves as the neighborhood’s western boundary and provides shopping and dining options. Side streets connecting Monroe and Adams are home to local favorites, such as Tallahassee’s first craft brewery. Proof Brewing Company features a tasting room, outdoor beer garden and a brewpub that serves tacos, burgers and other bar fare. Pair their flagship beer, the Eightfive-0 India Pale Ale, with a Buffalo chicken sandwich while you enjoy live music in the beer garden. Along Apalachee Parkway, you’ll find dozens of retailers and restaurants, including local Mediterranean favorite Sahara Café. Check items off your weekly grocery list at the Community Co-op Market. And nearby, The Moon nightclub has been hosting concerts and dance parties for over 35 years. As Tallahassee’s premier variety showcase, The Moon prides itself on diversity and hosts a range of events from rock, hip-hop and jazz concerts to fundraisers and galas.
