Bayshore Beautiful
Vintage homes on shady streets
While Bayshore Beautiful has some of Tampa's pricier homes, it also has some smaller, more affordable properties. On the lower end, homes around 1,000 to 1,500 square feet a few blocks from the water may go for $325,000 to $750,000 and require some renovations. Properties upwards of 3,000 square feet may cost between $2 and $6 million. Condominiums near the water sell for around $200,000 to over $5 million, depending on square footage. There are varying architectural styles, including ranches, Mediterranean Revival homes with archways and red tiled roofs and symmetrical Colonial Revival-style properties, ranging from the early 20th century through today. Some newer homes mimic vintage styles to blend with surrounding homes. Dense canopies of tall, old trees provide heavy shade on many streets.Youngsters take a swing at little league
Bayshore Beautiful's youngsters can participate in softball and baseball through Palma Ceia Little League, a community-based organization aimed at instilling sportsmanship and building character. Kids play at the little league fields on the west side of the neighborhood, with adjoining basketball courts, tennis courts and a playground. Locals get some exercise with a waterfront view along Bayshore Boulevard, which stretches along the neighborhood's east side and continues north. On the neighborhood's north end, Fred Ball Park provides some relaxation with shaded picnic tables. South of the neighborhood is Ballast Point Park, a waterfront area with a splash pad and fishing pier, and Tampa Yacht and Country Club, with boating and social activities for members.Boutiques and restaurants on South MacDill Avenue
Locals can shop for groceries at Publix and refresh their wardrobes at Marshalls, Burlington and Bealls in Britton Plaza, located just west of neighborhood. Groceries and other supplies are also available at Target and Publix at Gandy Shopping Center toward the neighborhood's south side. South MacDill Avenue is a centrally located spot for shopping small, with locally owned farmers markets, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. Mad Dogs and Englishmen is a well-regarded local spot where locals can enjoy fish and chips with a beer on the patio, as well as live music on Saturdays.Academic excellence at Hillsborough Public Schools
The neighborhood contains several private schools, such as Academy of the Holy Names and Bayshore Christian School. Students also have access to highly rated public schools. Younger children may attend Roosevelt Elementary or Coleman Middle, which both earn an A-minus from Niche. Established in 1926, Plant High School has a track record for excellence in academics and extracurriculars. Niche gives it an A-plus and ranks it the best public high school in the county.Events galore in Tampa
Gasparilla Pirate Fest attracts 300,000 residents and visitors alike, and Bayshore Beautiful residents are very near the fun. The pirate-themed festivities include a parade down Bayshore Boulevard, which begins on the north end of the neighborhood and continues north. There's much more to do in the area. "Tampa has all kinds of events," Stewart says. "There are art festivals, music festivals, sports. Every day there's something going on."Florida Route 618 goes downtown
For public transportation, locals can take the number 14 bus, which is accessible from West Euclid Avenue and South MacDill Avenue. It connects with the number 19 bus to get downtown. If driving is their preference, Florida Route 618 borders the neighborhood's west side, and connects with downtown. St. Petersburg is about 20 miles away via Gandy Boulevard North and Interstate 275. Orlando is about 90 miles away via Interstate 4 East.CrimeNoise and flooding are a reality
Bayshore Beautiful residents will experience noise from planes. The MacDill Air Force Base is about four miles south, and Tampa International Airport is about 6 miles north. A large portion of the neighborhood is at high risk for flooding, particularly along the water.
