A highly walkable and popular neighborhood in Tampa

Courier City offers a metropolitan lifestyle: townhouses walkable to local shops, errands and urban parks. It's also only 2 miles west of downtown Tampa, although on the day-to-day, residents have everything at their fingertips in the neighborhood. “It's got wonderful walkability, all kinds of restaurants and bars. Hyde Park is close by, and Bayshore is close by, so it’s highly desirable,” says broker Ruth Primeau who works with Charles Rutenberg Realty, Inc and has over three decades of experience in the area. Courier City borders Hyde Park Village, a massive open-air mall, and features a lively restaurant scene on South Howard Avenue. The retail hub brims with nightlife for adults, but Courier City’s not just for young professionals — families can expect highly rated public schools. “Anyone younger to middle-aged wants to be there. People in their 30s, 40s and even 50s — that’s where they want to be,” Primeau says.

At SOHO Juice Co., locals can drink smoothies in an interior with floor-to-ceiling windows and shelves of plants. Taco Dirty is a modern restaurant best known for its Mexican bowls. It features a covered patio lit by string lights. Hyde Park Village is an open-air mall that borders the neighborhood on its southeast corner. It offers name brand stores like lululemon, Pottery Barn and Sur La Table. Residents can get groceries at the Publix Super Market at Hyde Park, Winn Dixie or the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The area is highly walkable, bikeable, and has bus stops throughout it — a hallmark of urban convenience. As for architecture, the neighborhood is dominated by townhouses. Many of the buildings feature a Mediterranean influence with stucco exteriors, clay-tiled roofs and arched entryways. There are also contemporary townhouses, Craftsman bungalows and condos. Contemporary townhouses range from $800,000 to $1.4 million, while Craftsman bungalows range from $650,000 to $850,000. Those interested should keep a close eye on this in-demand area: “If a home is at the right price, it sells immediately with multiple offers. The market's hot,” Primeau says.
