Premium price for a premium neighborhood
The Golfview neighborhood is true to its name, with scenic views of the established Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club and the picturesque surroundings of South Tampa. The high-end neighborhood is home to one of the highest-rated school districts in the area, luxurious homes and several shopping and dining destinations. The premium living does come at a premium price. “It’s a bit ritzy and is a very expensive area to live in,” says Jeff Randall, a broker with Mainhouse Realty Associates with over 20 years of experience. “You’re close to shopping, restaurants, close to beaches and all the South Tampa areas.” The MacDill Air Base is about 5 miles from the neighborhood, but Randall says Golfview doesn’t have as many military transplant families because of cost.

Multi-million-dollar mansions and Colonials
Golfview has a higher cost than other neighborhoods in South Tampa. The average home value sits around 1.9 million dollars, nearly five times as much as the average home value for the Tampa Metro Area, which is around $464,000. Mid-century ranch-style homes can cost between $740,000 and one million dollars. Towering Colonials will often go for between one and three million dollars. Expansive mansions and custom estates with views of the Palma Ceia Golf Course typically cost between four million and ten million dollars. “The area’s not all that large and has done a lot of growing, but it is expensive,” Randall says. “Anything on a smaller lot will surely be a multi-level home.” Green oak trees and well-kept yards fill the neighborhood alongside the sidewalks and narrow roadways. Driveways and multi-car garages are a staple with the majority of neighborhood homes.

Roosevelt Elementary School is graded an A-minus from Niche. Roosevelt Elementary is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and will be 100 years old in 2025. Coleman Middle School also earns an A-minus and has a top-ranked music program. Coleman is designated a School of Excellence by the state. Plant High School receives an A-plus grade from Niche and has a strong athletic program, winning recent cross country and girls’ volleyball championships. Plant High also offers academic societies, including the National Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, Science Honor Society and International Thespians. “It’s a preferred area for parents to send their kids for the schools and athletics,” Randall says.

Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club is a recreation highlight for Golfview. Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia is the oldest private golf club in Tampa and hosts one of the largest amateur golf tournaments in the country, the Gasparilla Invitational. In addition to the golf course, local members enjoy the Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts and fitness centers. The nearest public park is Palma Ciea Park, a few blocks south of the golf course, which offers a more traditional park experience. “It’s a great place to take the kids to run around or take the dog on a walk,” says Lawrence Hollyfield, the communications coordinator with Tampa Parks and Recreation. “You’ll see people playing basketball there and just a good place to hang out.” Golfview is blocks away from Bayshore Boulevard, the longest continuous stretch of sidewalk in the world at four-and-a-half miles.
